The first edition of the Zugspitzultratrail is history. Over 750 trailrunners took on the challenge of running on one of the two courses around Germany’s highest mountain: 101km/6474m+ and 69km/3120m+.
It was a big and successful day for Team Salomon, as Julia Böttger from Germany returns from her injury, winning the 101km in 14h15min by leading from the start. Miguel Heras from Team Salomon Spain won the men’s in under eleven hours, in front of his teammate Iker Carrera, with whom he had run for most of the race.
Matthias Dippacher (GER) came in third after successfully defending himself against the attacks by Southafrican Salomon runner Ryan Sandes (fourth place).
In the 69km Supertrail, it was the youngest participant, 19 year old Philipp Reiter from Team Salomon Germany, who beat the strong Anton Philipp (Team Haglöfs) by 20 minutes, finishing in just over seven hours.
Ellen Clemens (Team Salomon Germany) had just signed up the night before, and is actually an uphill champion, but she still managed to finish third in the Women’s Masters Category.
It was a fantastic premiere for this new event, which promises to develop into one of the big Ultratrail events in Europe. In less than two weeks, the next event from organizer Plan B will launch: The “Salomon 4 Trails” is a four day stage race from Germany through Austria to Switzerland. Many of the Team runners from the Zugspitzultra are already signed up, in addition, we are expecting Anna “Frosty” Frost and multiple Transalpine Run winner Tom Owens at the Start in Grainau on wednesday, July 6th.

Einmalige Aufnahmen!
Du hast sicher tolle Aufnahmen eingefangen, trotz frieren beim letzten Verpflegungsposten

Jürgen
